Treasurer, Member of Board of Directors

About the job

We are seeking a Treasurer to join our Board of Directors. This role is ideal for someone with experience in business or finance who is looking to make a meaningful impact while taking on their first non-executive director position. As Treasurer, you will play a critical role in shaping the organization’s financial strategy and ensuring its long-term sustainability. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the establishment and growth of a dynamic new foundation focused on improving running safety for women and girls.

Main responsibilities

• Serve as finance lead for the organization, providing the Board with regular updates on its financial condition, and working with relevant staff and external accountants, when necessary.

• Ensure accurate financial records are maintained and that the organization complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.

• Develop and oversee the organization’s budget.

• Oversee the preparation and presentation of the annual financial report to the Board of Directors.

• Provide strategic financial guidance to the Board and the foundation’s Director.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).

• A passion for running and advocating for women and girls in sport.

• Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, open-mindedness, transparency, accountability, and ability to work in a team environment.

• Desirable: Prior experience working in a charity or non-profit or in a fundraising capacity.

• Desirable: An established network in the corporate, sport, or non-profit sectors.

Commitment

• 6-8 hours per month

• Attend monthly board meetings, the annual general meeting, and additional ad hoc meetings as required.

• Term: 3 years.

• Start date: as soon as possible.
